SWsoft (http://www.swsoft.com), an industry leader in the two hottest areas of IT industry – virtualization and SaaS – is looking for a highly motivated experienced software architect to drive refactoring of its entire SaaS/hosting product line. This high-impact position, to be based in Herndon, Virginia or Redmond, Washington, will report directly to CEO and will provide a unique opportunity to influence development of a dynamic $100 million software company with a 5-year record of 150% annual growth. Compensation includes a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package with a very attractive stock option plan.
The candidate must be capable of planning, evangelizing and then supervising the implementation of changes to the architecture of entire product line with the goal of domain model unification, reduced number of code bases and increased code reuse. Candidate must have excellent cross-group collaboration skills and be able to influence technical people without having a formal authority.

Requirements

* 15 years or more of experience with at least 5 years as a product or a product line architect
* Extensive experience with the enterprise management and SOA.
* Experience with working with or participating in industry standard groups.
* Proven success record in creating and implementing software architectures for several successive versions of a product or a product line.
* Excellent communicator and consensus builder
* Excellent written and verbal skills
* Conversational Russian preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

* Create a coherent software architecture for an entire product line that would emphasize unified domain model, minimal number of code bases and maximum code reuse
* Create and execute implementation strategy that would preserve continuity with existing product line and allow to transition to the new architecture within 3-4 years, with 6 month release cycles for each product and with visible and easily marketable benefits in every release

Other requirements

Extensive travel – 25%-50% of the total time – is required, at least for the first year. SaaS/hosting R&D team in Novosibirsk, Russia. Largest customers are in Europe (Germany/Benelux) and US (entire country).
