Job Title: Sales Engineer
Description: 4HomeMedia is looking for an experienced, detail-orientated self-starter to play a strategic and multi-faceted role for the company. This position is part Applications Engineer, part Sales Engineer, and part Technical Evangelist. The job will require light programming and XML scripting for customizations for customers, and consistent interfacing with clients such as giving demonstrations and driving to closure action items as part of the sales cycle. Qualified candidates will work with leading service providers, select networking equipment vendors, and technology partners to shorten the sales cycle by overcoming technical hurdles, while ensuring the effective integration and implementation of our products and services. This is someone willing to commute to our Sunnyvale headquarters but also travel (estimated 20-25% traveling), while working in a fast-paced, energetic start-up environment. The company will be relying on this person for their technical expertise, creative problem solving skills, and attention to detail. This person will be reporting to the Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, & Business Development for the company.
Candidate profile:
Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of relevant domain experience (systems integration, home automation, entertainment and control products and/or services, networking equipment and/or software, UI-focused experiences, IT and/or broadband services), start-up experience, a Bachelors (engineering degree preferred) or proven equivalent experience in a high tech business, deep functional role experience in the sales engineer, technical training and/or technical support services position within well-managed and results oriented organizations. An MBA or comparable business training would be ideal, but not required. The candidate must be highly motivated, intelligent, influential, and possess excellent communication skills, sales ability, technical expertise, and work well within a team, or independently. The candidate must also be able to interpret and communicate complicated technical material in a complex environment, while working closely with customers, sales management, engineering, customer support, and marketing. The candidate may also be responsible for developing and implementing technical support and training processes and materials. It is critical for this candidate to be organized, process-oriented, to have strong attention to detail and ability to bring tasks to a closure and communicate the status clearly and regularly.
Responsibilities of the candidate will include:
* Sell, launch, and help integrate back-end server product with Telcos and MSOs
* Interface with and drive revenueable projects through major broadband hardware equipment customers
* Work closely with strategic technology partners, such as Echelon and Zensys
* Work closely with engineering, product management, sales, & marketing while fostering cross-departmental coordination and communication
* Remote and onsite technical support, sales support, product demonstrations and technical training
* Leverage relationships within organizations to solve technical hurdles and foster awareness of our products, solutions, and services
* Interface with various customers and channel partners at both the business and a technical level, seeking viable solutions in real time before, during and after customer meetings
* Participate in the process of gathering and clarifying customer requirements and work with the product management team to contribute to PRDs and project plans
* Project management, systems integration, and testing of products and solutions for demonstrations, Proof of Concepts and field trials
* Tradeshow setup, presentations, and support
* Product evaluations and quality/beta testing
* Training & technical support materials creation
* Thought leadership, public speaking and presentations
