Copyright and patent questions

There are many various systems of Authors rights defence. I've legalized my idea in European Copyright system (grounded on Bern convention). But if I'll propose my idea in district of American low would it be defended like equal american one? Have I also formly defend my idea within American patent system? If yes, where I can do it and how much expences it takes?
